Jump strating a W124
I have been told that jump starting a W124 will cause the OVP to fry. True or false?

It CAN blow the fuse. Usually the actual OVP relay is fine.
Same on BMWs, I hear. You can actually bump-start a W124, even an automatic - Check your owners manual

if you follow the correct procedure for jump starting your car-,then the ovp relay and fuse should be ok-follow instructions in your owner's manual if you have one-it is crucial to connect the jump wires in the correct way and disconnect them once the car starts up also in the correct order to prevent ovp relay problems-

False.
If you reverse the cables you will blow the OVP fuse (luckily- prevents damage). Same if you accidentally cause a short during the jump procedure. Otherwise, expect no problems.
