Heat repair
It's amazing.
I buy a Chilton manual for my Mercedes 300D and it gathers dust.
I lost heat the other day. I went to the manual, nothing. I did the usual, flushed the system, check the thermastat, etc. Nothing, still blowing cold.
I search "Mercedesshop" and bingo everyone refers to the diapharm at the heat valve. Disconnect the electrical connector and alas it turns warm, we're getting "warmer".
I order and replaced the diaphram in about ten minutes and it's blowing hotter than hot.
What am I getting at, just a thank you to all the members that contribute and make this a very useful site.
The above was so simple why wouldn't it be in a Chilton manual?
Thanks again

Exactly, which part was bad??
My '80 300D has a "heat control unit", $$$$, that is cracked, corroded, clogged and condemned. The PO installed a regular plumbing shut-off valve, which is not so good(a PITA). A new unit, I think, is available for $700 |
