Question (ASR) Acceleration Slip Regulation Light on

Help! 95' s420 MB. The "ASR" light won't go off and the car is running rough. I changed the sparkplugs thinking that this is why it wasn't starting right but the problem persists. Typically I could just turn the ignition off a couple of times and it would eventually start normal without the "ASR" light on. How can I solve this problem?

You need to have the Electronic Accelerator computer checked for codes with a Mb scan tool.

Just to add to what MB DOC said, could be any of 20 or so (maybe more) different things. May be as simple and cheap as a brake light switch (as it was in my case) or as expensive as a throttle actuator.

Only way to find out is to pull the codes.

Thanks guys. I drove it over to a shop today and they are scheduled to let me know what is wrong.

Is it okay to drive it like that or will I damage something by driving it?

Could it be the switch on the panel "ASR" the book says that I should be able to activate it on demand but the switch does not do that or at least the light still remins on. I tested the continuity and it was okay.

They (a technician) removed the computer board on the engine compartment labeled "ASR", he removed it, disconnected the battery and the light remained on when we attempted to start it.

Thanks again. I'll pray for the least expensive remedy.
