engine swap for 87' 200E what will fit
at 152,000 miles my piston rings have gone i've looked for and identical engine to swap but have been unsuccsessful does anyone know what engines would fit My engine is 2.0 litres 4 cyl, stomberg carb (petrol) with switchable sports auto box. Would an 230CE 1985 petterberg carb engine be suitable.

Any four cylinder petrol engined manufactured for the W124 at the same production years as your engine should be a relative simple swap: 200E / 230E.
I think you may even fit an 220E with some additional work. Forget about diesels. A. Rosich S320, 1998 E320T, 1995 |

I think as long as the engine is compatible with your transmission, computer, wiring loom, tail shaft, you should be OK?

The early 190 carb engine is probably the same.
Are you sure the piston rings have gone? This engine is well known for valve stem oil seal wear, leading to oil burning. The seals can be replaced without removing the head. This is an effective and relatively cheap job.
