Difference in W210 Tail Lenses?
 

This is kind of a long shot, but does anyone know if the Brake light socket in a 99 E320 is different from the other W210 years?

I won a pair of tail lenses on eBay and I was real stoked about the prospects of replacing my cracked right tail lens, but I found the brake light socket does not fit into the new one. The signal and the tail sockets fit just fine.

After further scruitiny, it looks like the brake slots are designed differently. The original has ramps that require a deeper socket. The other one is flat like the other two bulb sockets on the assembly. Check it out:

Can anyone provide insite on this? My nearest MB parts store is 100 miles away.
