fuel pressure question - KE-III

I did some work on our 1991 190E 2.3 that involved removing the electric variable pressure regulator on the side of the fuel distributor - easier access for removing the idle air rotary valve. The car had sat overnite before removing it, but I still expected some fuel to spurt out. No more than a drop came out. Is this normal? If there is pressure leakdown, would the injectors be the most likely culprit?

The car pretty much runs normally, but mileage is less than I think it should be, idle is sometimes a bit uneven or high, and the engine bangs around when started - but always catches quickly. Thanks for any input.

That should be SYSTEM pressure & not injection pressure. SO the fuel accumulator, fuel pump check valve, OR fuel pressure regulator would be likely causes of fuel pressure bleed-off.

Thanks, I'll check those too, since I guess then that what I am noticing is abnormal. My concern about injectors is also from the following:

On startup (warm or cold) the engine responds quickly, but uneven firing for a couple of seconds. The condition is least violent if I wait until I hear the pump stop, then I start it immediately. Engaging the starter before or later than that I get the roughness. My guess is no gas or gas leaking thru the injectors is at fault?

i have the same problem on my car,the car fires up but idles unevenly for 2 seconds ,then stabilises.

i read somewhere that it could be the injector related
