Cold start injector question

Do these go bad very often? If one did, is it possible to stick open and continue to feed gas to the engine? Car is 1988 300E.

Motor starts and runs ok. Mileage is not that good and spark plugs on cylinders 3 & 4 tend to foul faster than the rest.

How many miles can you drive before the plugs foul? Is it an oil consumption problem? Is the 02 sensor working properly? How bad is the fuel mileage? The problem could be a number of things. I've never replaced a cold-start valve because of a flooding problem( although it could certainly be the cause ). I'm assuming that you've gone over all the basics. Keep me posted.

If your cold start injector is stuck open, it would depressurize the fuel system when the motor is turned off. If you smell in the air cleaner after driving raw gas would be very evident. The car may be diffucult to start with the fuel system depressurized. I thought mine was bad too but was OK.

Good Luck,

Randy
