Brake fluid change-Spring?

The owner's manual and the new Mercedes Benz Owner's Bible both state that brake fluid should be changed in the Spring. Can anyone tell me why they specifically say "in the Spring"? Can it not be changed during the winter when humidity is relatively low (since brake fluid tends to absorb moisture)?

The moisture problem is not as prevalent in warm weather, therefore, by flushing in the spring, it will be fresh in the summer and then be ready to make it through the winter. If you flushed it in the fall, the moisture collected in the Winter would be present all summer if you were doing this on an annual basis.

Beyond that recommendation, if the fluid is nasty, you should flush it regardless of the time of year.

Good luck,
