would someone please help me out on this? The above noted car has the small tranny with the narrow pan and is leaking from behind the nuetral safety switch from a plug, shaft, or something that is about the size of a quarter and is just in front of the servo cover. is this something i can reseal? Is it a sign of the hydrolicics starting to bypass? the front pump seal appeared to be leaking but after cleaning it has shown no sign again.
I serviced the filter and tore it open. there were a few small (grit) particles of friction material but no metal and the unit works perfectly.

please advise me as to what this is thats leaking and what is needed to reseal the leak.

thanks in advance

What you are describing if I remember right is the back side of the reaction valve for one of the two bands. This requires d&a of the transmission, something you would want verified first. Also a very common leak in that area is the o-ring for the modulator valve, and it runs down the side below what you describe.
Final trivia note, the skinny trans pan you mentioned means you have a 722.4 trans, little brother of the 722.3....

Would you please look and see what I am talking about? If the nuetral switch is removed there is a 3/4 of an inch round flat plug that is leaking when in gear. I do not know what it is? It does not have anything going to/ from it, just a flat surfaced plug with no flange on the outside. I would really be indebted to you if you were able to tell me, definitivly, what it is and if it is servicable without a removal and teardown

This is removable from the inside only. I have seen a few of them leak. You might find someone who would take out the valve body and see if it could be done in the car. I think it is possible but I am not for sure.

Thanks for your help. It was a band reactor and yes the tranny has to be R+I'ed to repair so, it's overhaul time. I am going to clean up and silicon the sealed area and see if that stops the leak. I have heard of this being done with some success.

Thanks again for your help
