I've heard alot about them. My friend who currently drives a Toyota Landcruiser, can't stop talking about Unimogs. Apparently they're rare in N.America. They sure seem like the ulimate 4x4. Difficulty finding any good sources of info on them though. Not very well known about also, even some 4x4 enthusiasts don't know about em. We've been reading everything about them that we can get our hands on.

Seems there is a subculture of Uni-Mog enthusiasts out there in the U.S.
I've seen maybe one these things on the U.S. road in my lifetime. Here are some sites to check out - http://www.scruz.net/~krs/ http://www.cs.brandeis.edu/~zippy/unimog.html I'm also very interested in some 70s era Mercedes vans that were made, sort of like a larger version of the VW buses. MB bought a company that made buses using MB engine/transmission...Some are being maintained and operated in the U.S. I've lost my bookmarks on these things. |
Go check out www.eurotruck-importers.com A guy I went to school with owns it and is near by. If you are wanting one, let us set it up. It won't cost you anything, but could make us something.

Wow, you may need that Pinzgauer IBEX shown at that site if Hurricane Dennis does indeed turn west towards you....
