PBR brake pads
 

If anyone is interested, We have now had new PBR pads and ATE discs on the front of the 320 wagon for the past 2 months, and without question, the near dust-free quality of these pads is just beyond belief... clean, clean clean. I'm surprised no one else seems to have anything to say about them.

They are reasonably priced, about half the price of the Porterfields mentioned elsewhere (but don't seem to be living up to advertised low-dust character) , grip and stop just as well as OEM, and don't squeal.

We have had these pads on our BMW for over a year, and same results. Discs do not seem to be wearing or scoring any worse than with OEM.

Just thought if anyone was wracked with indecision about braking upgrades or maintenance, this might help.

PS: Have Textar on back, but dust was never an issue on rear wheels.

Good to know as I have to replace the wagon's front pads. Did you use any paste/lube?

I keep saying it Axxis (PBR) deluxe pads are the best. They are organic just like the factory pads but with hardly any dust whatsoever.

Just installed PBR Deluxe's on my front end last week also.

So far, they're dead quiet and the brake pedal feel and stopping power are as-good if not better than the OE pads that were on before.

No comment on wheel dust yet tho. Still need to clean the wheels real good and then watch them for a week.

Dumb question #642: CK42, those headlights you have there in that pic are sharp looking. Are they the "Euro-lights" I keep reading about and with you being in Atlanta I know that a set would (should) fit my '91 300SE.

Not a dumb question at all :) I can remember, not too long ago, when I didn't even know what euro lights WERE.

I bought them from someone here on the forums used. They're actual Bosche units.

Not sure about fit, but I believe that Euro lights should be available for nearly ANY model and year.

I got the pads right here via FastLane.

Yes, I used paste on the back of the pads.

And yes, do not get the Metal Masters, those are designed for the 'enthusiast': people that like to autocross their M3's every weekend of the summer!

Need to replace my back pads. Im sure their also available for the rear also. Deluxe not metal masters right.

keithed, not sure if PBR available for the back for your vehicle, check via 'FastLane' on this site for your particular model.

When I checked, they were not available for E320 rear. Textar brand for back very low dust anyway, so not an issue.

I've always used Axis Metalmasters since, 1989. I think the names that it falls in. PBR, Axxis, Minitex, and Bendix(not sure) are all the same company. I wanted to say how good these pads are but, cannot really give a true response because, I never put them on a MB yet. Still waiting for the stock pads to wear out.
