MB Mechanic Question

How do you become a Mercedes-Benz technition, I want to learn European Cars, yet all the Colleges i'm applying to only teach the "Automotive Tech" on domestic cars. Yeah it'll help me in a future job, but European cars are put together somwhat different. Could you guys just tell me where you all went to be taught.
Thanks in advance

I'd ask at a Mercedes dealership

Universal Technical Institute has the "Elite Program"
That is sponsored by Mercedes and is the only way I know of to get MB training before going to work for the dealer.

Hi Chris, start at the bottom and work your way up! If you don't have any on-the-job experience I'd suggest trying to land a job in the new car prep dept. of your local dealer. The only requirements are: 1. Show up on time. 2. Have a good attitude and be willing to LEARN. 3. Take pride in your work, whether it's washing cars or diagnostics. MB dealers are in dire need of young talent. Good luck

Thanks so very much everyone, that just answered so many of my questions. Looks like i have a 3-4year plan now;)

one more question

Lets say I Major and get my BA (in college) in Automotive Tech. Would I still have to go to 2years of Tech School before going to the ELITE program?

I would think that would put me in better with a dealership and be able to get a higher starting pay than a 2year tech school.
Anyone know?
Thanks:D

I think that you should ask the people at the Custom Training Group that question.

I got lucky I was trained by 25 year mastertech for 2 years before I could diagnose and repair anything on my own. I have attended classes throughout the years for indi's but the dealer training is the best by any aspect. Most of what we have learned is hands on real world though, they do that at dealer training now I believe. You wont jump in making top dollar you start at bottom and work your way up. Alot of studying and building circuit boards and learning to diagnose those circuits. Good luck

Go to www.actautostaffing.com

They have a 16 week course called Mercedes Elite. If you qualify, MB will even pay tuition.

Good luck,
