85 380SE Accelerator Pedal replacement
 

Anyone please help. The attachment of the Accelerator pedal (upper) is broken. It appears that I will have to replace the entire pedal because the flex portion seems integral with the whole unit. I have released the lower attachment where the pedal meets the floorboard, but I cannot see how to release the upper attachment to slide it off of the linkage to the fuel feed.

Has anyone done this repair?? What's next. The car is not driveable until I make the pedal safe and secure.
