300E Euro Headlights - correct bulbs?
 

OK, a quick one. I have Euros on my 300E. One headlight burnt out. What's a good replacement for it? I've tried the archives, but what a mess - mostly discussion on Euros and make-believe Euros...

OEM (Sylvania) H4, 55 watt.

Go to www.powerbulbs.com . Click on philips, H4, Vision Plus 55 watt (correct wattage for your lights). Repositioned filament and xenon quenching/cooling gas makes this one of the very few 55 watt bulbs that really have increased light output on the road, with no heat or current damage to your lights, and no increased glare or scatter to oncoming drivers.

Otherwise, Sylvania, Osram, Wagner, or anybody elses H4 55 watt will work.

The most important element for good headlights is the shape of the reflector and lens. That is why you have Euro lights, they are vastly superior in this area as compared to the crappy US lights.

For this reason, there is absolutely ne need for high wattage bulbs. In fact, if you use them the added heat will eventually do damage to your headlight assemblies. Just go find a standard H4 bulb from Osram, Sylvania or whoever. Buy a spare while you're at it.
