winshield washer pumps?
good morning. I have a 92 400 E and the winshield washer nor the headlight washer pumps are engaging. The fuse is not blown (#2) acording to the fuse list. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated and happy holidays.

Brian,
Physically take the fuse out and reinstall it. The German fuses sometimes crack on the end and still look good. When you take it out the end will fall off. Try that first. Peter

Good morning Peter. In true mercedes fasion as soon as I read your reply ( about 6am here) out to the guarage I went. Opened the hood, serviced the fuse and anxiously pressed the wash lever............sorry guy it didn't work. It did however get me started back on my auxilliary fan problem which i am going to post a new thread for. If you have any more washer ideas I would sure appreciate it. Thanks again.

Check the ground. Run a jumper wire from the ground side of the pump (typically Brown)to a good ground or the negative post of the battery to see if the pump operates. I had the same problem an at first couldn't get it to work by jumping it. But it did after I replaced the relay. The ground was bad and the high resistance might have contributed to the demise of the relay.
