Cool differential gearing

Has anyone changed rear-end gear ratios for an '86 190e 2.3 16v? The stock ratio is 3.27:1, and I would like something a little lower, like 3.70 or 3.90!

A problem I am having is "gear slack" when I let out the clutch, like there is slop in the rear end!

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Rick

You need to get underneath and check the actual ring and pinion slack. I expect that you will not find much. Your "slack" is most likely: bushings on one or more suspension members, suspension mounts or differential mount bushings.

Good luck,
