Gentlemen,

This w/e I had a CD head installed by a reputable dealer. However, after I picked up the car this morning I noticed several components were not working. The windscreen wiper is not giving fluid, my cruise control doesn't work, the LCD outside temp. display is off, and the fan blower, vent selector, and electric windows buttons fail to light up (however, they do work).

I have a Hayes manual and reviewed it during lunch to see if they were all connected to the same fuse or relay. I checked the fuses and everything fine, but the manual doesn't go into the specifics of the relays. Is there one that connects them all, or did these guys do some serious damage?

When I called and informed them of the trouble, all they told me was to check the fuses.

I'm just looking for ammo/info before I head back to their shop this evening.

Thanks...

Also, is this normal and should I have to pay if they did something wrong?

Be sure to check fuse 13 and 14. If they are OK take it back and make them fix it. Get the repair in writing so if you have any further problems, you will have a leg to stand on!
Thanks

Benzmac,

The dealer has had the car for two days now! But, I did inspect each fuse carefully before I took it back. None appeared blown. But here is a new thing, and I'm not too familiar with auto mechanics so work with me...

The dealer called today to ask permission to "jump" my car. He said that sometimes electrical circuits "backup" and you have to "flush them" by unplugging the battery cables and jumping the car! This sounded like bull**** to me, so I called the Mercedes dealer and they were closed. I told the garage I'd call tomorrow to deny or grant permission, I just wanted to get some advise from someone first.

I don't know if this is normal or not. Is it? I do remember when I had the car tuned, the dealer told me that I could not jump the car like a normal auto if it ever went dead because of some type of fuse.

I'm just nervous that these guys have ripped me off or are trying to because they ruinned something electrical.

Any help, please. Sorry so long.

Sounds like bull**** to me too. I have never had to flush and electrical system in my life. The fuse that can blow is called the overvoltage protection relay fuse.

Is the factory MB dealer doing the work or a stereo shop? If it is the stereo shop, have it towed to the dealer and make the shop pay for the whole bill.
Thanks for the questions
Donnie
