Water on floor

I hav a 1980 300 SD and I have discovered a major leak on the floor in the back behind the drivers seat. All the mats were soaked and water was laying in a pool under the mats. I checked around the door seals and the rain doesn't seem to be coming in from there. A hole in the floor seems unlikely as there is too much pooling of water there. Could there be some connection between this and apipe that drains the water from the sunroof. Where is the drain outlet located. Could it be plugged. Otherwise I may have to take out the front seat.which is non powered. Is that a difficult job? I would like to track this leak down and would appreciate any suggestions. I live on Vancouver Island and we are getting tons of rain right now. Thanks.

Have the same problem with my '69 230/8 only on the right side. Had lots of rain lately here in Fla. My local mechanic says it could be the drains for the vent in front of the windshield, firewall seals or the antenna seal. When the water comes down there it sloshes back under the seats when you get under way. Also it could be seeping down the windows or, for W114/115s, through the rear window seal. Then you' d get it in the trunk, too. Good luck.

howdy,
i have a '80 450sel -- had water on the front carpet, and rear carpet --- the previous owner had sealed the sunroof, in an attempt to stop the leaks, so it wasn't coming from the drain hoses -- i discovered a rust hole, under the hood, behind the driver's wheel well. it is an area that accumulates leaves and dirt, which holds water. i cleaned out the area, and attempted to fill the hole with fiberglass cloth. i didn't do a very good job, because it was hard to get to. i then used a caulking gun, and some sealing tar, to fill the whole area -- also, the previous owner had replaced the hood release cable, and left the grommet out -- that was another area i had to fill, because i couldn't get the grommet back into the hole. then i found that water was coming in around the windshield seal -- i used the same tar in the caulk gun to run a new bead under the windshield lip seal -- now there are no leaks -- let's see if i can post a couple pics -- here is the area with the rusting -- the car is no longer here, gave it to my daughter :) patrick

here's the pass side -- lots of dirt and leaves back there to cause rusting

These came from the search feature with key words: 300SD, window, water

Try this: Water

More water

tanks for the direction, Haasman -- my 450 had/has water in the trunk too, thought it was coming in through a rust hole in the gas filler compartment, which was filled with moisture holding dirt. everyone should check that their drain hose is clear, running from the gas filler compartment, or they will have a rust hole eventually. tanks gain, patrick
