Have a '91 300SE, love it. Also love my 325ic. Needed the back seat for the kids. They are both in college, no longer need the back seat. Wife has always wanted an SL. Looking for pros/cons for trading in the BMW. Also if pro MB, what models/years should I steer clear of. This is one of those tough decisions no one should have to make!

Be aware that the six in the sl has a common and expensive(oil in coolant)head gasket problem that no salesman is going to warn you about. If you do decide that you want a 320 instead of a 500, try to buy the car for around 2k less than you really want to pay because that's probably what your dealer will charge you when the head gasket starts leaking. Or you can get a 500 and enjoy the power of a v-8.

If I were you, I would just go for the 500SL/SL500. SLs are really heavy cars, and the inline-six just isn't enough. Also, V8/V12 will have better resale value if you decided to go for next-gen. SLs.
Wish you find your SL soon..... Happy Hunting.... Andy Kuo '92 400SE 71,014 KM |
