Vacuum Source for Headlight Control on 300E

Has anyone added Euro lights to a 300E and connected the vacuum level control? If so, where did you connect to for a vacuum source? Did you simply run a line out to the manifold? Is there a better source in the cabin?

Thanks for your replies,

At the base of the winshield, you should see a yellow check valve. I added a tee before that check valve and added a second check valve to feed the euro light height adjuster.

Glen,

Thanks for the response. Do you mean at the base of the windshield under the hood, or under the dash?

Thanks,

I have pictures of this install on my W201. Visit my web page and you can see where I tapped into to get vacume.

Larry,
Check out 2Phasts pictures, it'll make more sense. I'm not sure how useful the height adjustment really is but it is a really cool feature and non-MB people are generally amused ;)

Out of curiosity, how is the adjustment wheel illuminated on the W124? On the 201, I used a fibre optic cable to a modular light source on the back of the instrument panel.

There was some helpful information on the 2phast.com. Thanks.

My only worry is pulling down the kick panel. The 123 panels come off in no time. This one seems like a pain. I have never had to remove it. There's a first time for everything.

For 99% of folks the adjuster is unnecessary unless you have varying loads in the trunk. I have Euro lights on my Euro 240D and the adjuster is REALLY helpful for my particular needs. I drive 20 miles to the highway in the morning before sunlight. Then most of the year I drive the 20 miles from the highway after dark in the evening. This 20 miles is narrow, winding, hilly farm road with lots of deer and escaped livestock to dodge. The adjusters on my 123 allowed me to raise the headlights when on the farm road for dodging animals. Then when on the highway, put them back to normal height.

Have a great day,
