Rear end thump - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

I have a 92 300TE 4matic,after comming to a stop when I release the brakes I can hear and feel a thump. Is this common on a 4matic?

YES, every time that you take off the car is in 4 wheel drive. What you hear is the clutch engaging in the transfer case. Use search feature for other "4-matic" subjects.
