210 transmission failures?
Lately, I been hearing about the 210 e class having transmission failures. Did this affect a specific year or was it pretty consistant through out the entire line? Also was this the cause of owners failing to change the fluid alot sooner then the manufacturer suggests?

210 Transmission Failure
I bought my sister's 98 E320 wagon right after the transmission was replaced. The transmission failed after 75,000 miles (90% highway) and the car was about 3 years old. The transmission fluid had been changed at around 60,000 because the fluid was so dark and gunky. Mercedes would not admit a problem, but split the $6800 replacement bill 50/50. She was so disgusted, she wanted to get rid of it. I bought it and now have 92,000 miles on it with no apparent problem with the replacement. I am planning on changing the fluid at 30,000 mile intervals to try to head off any future replacement.

.6's will take a dump on occasion. Most drivers I've ridden with that exerienced early failure were not stopping the car with the brakes when backing out of a parking space. Big no-no with a .6. Stop the car fully, then change directions. Service them every 60k with the MB fluid and there is no reason it shouldn't last.
