Unhappy 190E Motor/Tranny problems!

The previous owner of my car did not take care of it at all (a woman of course).

My auto tranny for my 89' 190E 2.6 when braking sounds like the ABS is trying to engage and makes a horrible grinding sound. Also when the car is parked and driving you can move the shifter to whatever gear. I can't tell if it's a linkage issue with the tranny or what.

As far as the motor it takes sometimes 3 starts to get it running. I plan on getting a new starter along with a full tune up which will hopefully solve all the motor issues.

Any advice will be greatly apperciated

I can tell you from 30 years in the auto business that men by far mistreat their autos. Given a real POS, 99 times out of a hundred it will belong to a man.

every woman I ever met that locked up her engine would admit to it, every man would add oil in a attempt to "cover up" what he did.

I do agree men do abuse their cars alot worse than women and are afraid to admit it The woman who I bought my car from wasn't completely sane. My step-dad bought the car of her to help her out with money situations since she's been his patient for awhile now.
