Plastic fenders 2
How many E500´s were made with plastic front fenders? My ´94 car has them and I have been told by MB on the phone they are as from the factory. I found a reference to "Noryl nylon" parts to be used in Chemical Industry database, but it was very scanty.

Jukka,
One thing I can tell you, you're the only one with Plastic Fenders on this Board! Or, at least, so far! Have you checked the rest of your car? Seems like you have some sort of custom "lightweight" 500E (if anything weighing in near 4k lbs. could be considered "light")

Benzmac, the German car identity document says weight empty (Leergewicht) is 1718 rpt 1718 kg.

Benzmac,
just in case this is helpful, "empty weight" or Leergewicht in German law (42 StVZO) seems to mean weight as ready to be driven, with full tank, spare tyre &tc. I am a bit confused here, as at least with current models Mercedes quotes another regulation (92/21/EG) which means tank 90 per cent full plus 68 kg driver and 7 kg luggage weight. Perhaps EU law is now substituted for German law. I phoned Mercedes in Stuttgart, sent them an email and they said they will check the files. I will let you know. Jukka |

Benzmac, oh I feel I am becoming a bore, the Leergewicht of the 500E in 1991 was given as 1778 kg.
