I have bought a '92 190E 2.3 with 45.000 km's (27.OOO miles) and I need help in a few questions:

1. The car is running like new but takes a few seconds to start when you turn the key. The seller said that is normal in this car. He said that is a "cold" car żis that true?

2. I would really appreciate as well if somebody can tell me same suggestions to obtain the best of my engine with an automatic transmission, this is my first car with it (automatics are not very usual in Madrid) and I am not sure if I use it well.

3. There is a good web site with inf. about the W201.

Thanks in advance for your help,
Pedro

Pedro, low miles, er low kilometers, sounds like a good find. First the transmission: should be serviced every 30,000 miles, so you are right about there. Chage the filter and the pan gasket, and be sure that the torque converter is also drained. Best not to neglect this if you plan on keeping it for a long time.
Hard start? 2-3 seconds of cranking time would be considered normal, the fuel pressure has to build up. If it was my new 7-8 year old car, I would replace the fuel filter and add a can of 'dry gas' to be sure there is not any moisture in the fuel tank, especially because the car has been sitting around alot, I put that many miles on my car every year! It is also a good time to check the spark plugs, good chance they are the originals, Bosch only please....
