no turn signal / flashers work
 

I have a 1987 190 16v. I turned on the flashers today and the next thing I know, my turn signals do not work. The flashers still do. I seem to recall on a 240D I owned that the turn signals were routed through the flasher switch. Is this the case with my 190? I checked the fuses and they all seem to be intact. The lights all work fine both inside as well as on the dash and console.

A new switch is $30 and I just want to have an idea that this may do the trick before I waste $30.
