300E Drivers window
 

I know this has been discussed but I have never see my problem resolved so here we go again.
Drivers side front window frequently fails to work when it gets cold...usually below 20 deg. F. Can't move to Florida....
The passenger side rear window works fine, I have ruled out switch. The window is not frozen. It makes no effort to move and there is no click or any electrical sound. I'm sure there is no power going to the window. This motor is not original..it was replaced 3 or 4 years ago. What do y'all think???

Having lived in cold climates I would guess it is moisture inside the door. Questions:

-how do you know it isn't the switch?

-does it happen more often, say first thing in the morning than middle of the day?

-have your tried rotating the fuses (sometimes they look good but are actually bad)

Had a similar problem a few months back, my window would not operate above a certain temperature.

After much head scratching and checking regulator for damage etc.., I bit the bullet and got a new motor.

Works first time everytime now. Was it a new genuine MB part you used last time?

I have ruled out the switch by swapping switches and there was no difference. I have reseated the fuse and the right rear always works when the left front fails so I think this rules out the fuse. The motor replaced 3 - 4 years ago was OEM. I hate to replace the motor just to see if it solves the problem...when it works, it works very normal. I suppose the thing to do is pull the door panel when it is failing and see if there is electricity to the motor. I have had the door panel off many times and see no moisture anywhere. It has me stumped.

Mine gets very slow when cold also. Try spraying some silicone in the window channels. It helped mine a little.

Try operating the window with the lights on...
 

If the window motor is about to go (drawing amps), the lights will go down> Just bite the bullet and buy a new motor...:cool:
