Rough Shifting Transmission
My 1987 560 SL with 109,000 miles has the following transmission problems:
1. When putting the transmission into D, there is a slight hesitation, then a heavy "clunk". 2. The 2-3 shift is rough, and the 3-4 shift seems to occur too early. 3. There is also a delay in downshifting when I step hard on the gas pedal to pass someone. Brief hesitation, then bangs into gear. I already searched the archives, and changed the modulator with no improvement. I hope this is a relatively easy (and cheap) fix. Any ideas? Max

Rough Shifting Transmission
Made a mistake. Modulator wasn't changed (wrong car).
