no start
hi..have a 1984 380sl that will not start. car sat bout 2 months and battery was low. jumped started with battery charger follow-up. engine turns over strong but will not fire.replaced coil, distributor wire. ovp fuse is good(replaced). have 12v reading at positive coil terminal. o volt reading at negative coil terminal when leads connected. if i disconnect the wires at negative coil terminal i get a 12v reading. i'm lost as to what to check next. was thinking about the ignition pick-up in distributor.

Do you know how to check spark? Tried spaying some starting fluid?

could be the fuel pump relay.
do you hear the fuel pump buzz as you turn on the ignition? |
thanks for the reply fellowa. i checked for spark several times. no luck! i'm convinced it is an electrical issue and not a fuel issue. you can smell fuel when you crank the engine. any other ideas?
thanks |
if you have a compression gauge, check the compression, but since you know that you have no spark only thing I can think of without looking at the car myself is the distributor and ignition control module, I would go with the distributor, modules don't go bad right away they usually give intermittent no starts since this is not the case the distributor remains, you have a spare? They can run expensive
