shock absorbers

I have a 1994 C180 Euro and it seems to be sitting a bit low. I jacked the car up and noticed the rears have the indication of H 1 as against 2 other newer (1995 and 1996) C180s which have H 6 indicated on the rear shockers. Does this mean that mine is for a lowered suspension or is the difference really a new series of shockers? Can I have mine changed to a softer or gas shocker to improve the ride? The front is a bit toooo hard unless I drop the pressure to 20 instead of 30. The backs I don't feel too much as they follow the fronts. Gets very annoying when you have to cut over tram lines and railway lines or go over the rougher roads outside of town.

Ride height is controlled by the springs NOT the shocks. IF it is too low then the springs need adjustment (spring pads) OR replacement. The shocks are there to dampen the vibrations.
