Please help! How do I access the seatbelt mechanismin my 90 300SL? The dealership wants $2,000 to replace the two belts, or ~$300 to release the tension. I will eventually replace them, but for the time being they are useless! I know if they were disassembled and reassembled, they will be temporarily usable again. Thanks in advance for any help.

There is an easy way to do this. Just take off the end of the belt that is easy to get to. One bolt holds it on the car. Then the belt will go in a bit and unlock. Reattach. Good luck
