and what do check with the voltmeter at the sensor...is it the resistence between the two wires leading to the pickup??

in case you read this i opened up the right inner moulding on passenger footwell as per the electric manual: there is no egr control box there :in fact there is nothing there. could it be behind the glove box: or is it only required in california/; i do have an egr valve which works on vacuum system.

Check your #16 fuse, if its broken or even just dirty, your tach won't work, as well as your backuplights.

It worked for me, maybe for you too.
