W140 - updating climate control push button
 

Hey guys,

Great site you have here. I was wondering if anyone has ever updated their climate control head unit from the old 3 face style to the newer one face plate unit. Are the rear plugs the same? I imagine they are but I have never seen the back of a newer unit. Also, I will need to replace the center wood sonsole from the two piece style to the one piece style. Has anyone ever attempted this job? I can find all these pieces easily on ebay for under $200 so I am eager to do the job if possible. Thanks in advance for your help.

I often thought about replacing the center console with a one piece unit but that's all I've done: just think about it.

The first thing that pops into my mind, is the connectors just will not plug into the newer ones??? And even if they do by some miracle, the signals will be different (ie; scrambled)???

But it certainly sounds like a good project, so good luck! Keep us posted.

PS: get a good wiring diagram first before you start!

The wiring is completely different! Also the later version must "TALK" with the instrument cluster & Fuel sytem computer for info.
