Unhappy High/Low Beam Flash

Ladies &/or Gents:

On my 96 C280 my high/low beam flash (push towards me) does not work but if I want to change to high beams by pushing towards the front the left hand side lever works fine.

Is it a problem at the steering wheel or a fuse/relay problem.

Sorry to ask such a simple question but my manual is on its way.

In advance thank you.

It's a common problem. My C280 is the same way. The constant ON will work, but high beam flashes will not. The combination switch/stalk is faulty. I believe repair is in excess of $500. I just live with mine!

Good luck.

Hey guys, the feature in question is what's known as the "optical horn"! How funny is that.

Hi!

Is it really that expensive to fix?

Isn't this the part?

put in this in Fastlane's search by part number dialog box
P3010-76864

That is fastlane's product# for the combination switch...

it shows $140... that is not too bad..

Good luck.

Holson, that may be true. However, I know that it's more labor than one thinks... if I recall correctly, the whole steering wheel must be removed, in addition to the steering column.

I may be off, but I do know it's somewhat pricey.
