Where's the fuel filter located?
Dear Board,
I just purchased an 86 300E (this is my first gas MB--I've owned 2 diesels) and I want to replace the fuel filter. Can anyone tell me where it is located? Are there any special procedures I need to employ in changing it? So far I am loving the car. It is in mint condition on the inside and after I get done buffing and waxing the exterior it will be very nice. The acceleration sure is quicker on this car than on my other ones. Thanks in advance to all who help me as I make the transition to the gas engine. Sincerely, Skoob |

Up underneath the car - just the the left of the right rear tire. Filter is metal and a bit smaller than a beer can.
I find it helps to back the car up on ramps in order to have better access. I also pull ground strap off the battery for safety before starting this job. Not too tough of a project.

I would add...
the fuel filter is hidden behind a cover which, you would need to remove. Three screws and the cover is out. The fuel pump and the fuel accumulator are right next to it.
Good luck!
