Exhaust Manifold Torque 300TE
Hi,
Does anyone know what the torque specs are for the exhaust manifold nuts on a 1988 300TE. I can't find this info on my repair CD or the Haynes manual. Thanks, Steif |
Steif,
How comprehensive is the Haynes manual? Does it really give you a step-by-step diy guide for repair? Does it cover head gasket and aircon evaporator repair? R.V. ----------------- 1992 300 TE Wagon (m103) 113.8K miles |
More important than the exact amount of nut torque is that you tighten them down evenly. Snug all of them, then tighten all of them. Otherwise you stand the chance of cracking the exhaust manifolds.
Good luck, |
MB doesn't list exhaust manifold torque specs as "MOST" of them use self-locking nuts. Hard to specify a torque on a self-locking fastener.

Larry Bible and M.B. Doc,
Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge and vast experience. I'm learning a lot from all of you. If you have the time, would you answer my question (2nd post), posted by ako--that's me! Happy Motoring! RV ---------------- 1992 300 TE Wagon (m 103 engine) 113.8K miles |
Haynes Manual
I have a Haynes manual for my 201, and I think it's quite good. I'm sure it's no where near as comprehensive as the MB Service CD, but hey, it was $15. I find it a valuable resource when used in conjuction with this site. Definately worth the very small investment.
Just my my 2-cents (arguably worth that). Jeff Pierce |
