Underload issue ?

Just when I thought I was in the clear. I changed too many parts to list.

Including the CIS distributor & the airflow meter, just to name a few. Also I swapped the EZL, ECU, wires, plugs, coil, crank position sensor, etc, etc, etc..................

50% of the time my car runs good, but is lacking in the higher RPM ranges. The other 50% of the time is runs like crap, then all of the sudden kicks in and takes off.

The biggest problem I am having is that it only occurs under load.

If the car is in nuetral the throttle reponse & accelerator works just fine.

Any thought ?

There is an altitude compensator that I have seen fail. IT is located behind the battery...Looks like a map sensor with no vacuum line. Just electrical.

Thanks Donnie, I'll check that out !!:D

Hmmmmmmm?

I located and pulled out the Altittude adjustment compensator.

My only ? is where does the signal go? To the KE control or the EZL !:D

Scratching head still !!!

No it's not dandruff !!!;)

I swapped out the altitude adjustment compensator last night.

Heres the skinny on what's going on.

The car's RPM will stay at say 4500 if I shift out @ 4500. Only with the clutch depressed for more than 10 seconds will the RPM's drop.

Here's another scenario of what is happening.

If I am sitting at a light in neutral waiting, sometimes the RPM's will slowly climb up to 3000 RPM by itself.

Any other thoughts guys?

Ignition related ? Maybe ? Due to the fact that it is not a constant problem. It is only sporadic. But when it does run seemingly ok it still lackes power !!!

That sounds like a lean-out situation, perhaps caused by a vacuum leak. How are your manifold gaskets?

Potomac Pat 01-08-2003 11:55 AM

Gaskets !!

I just put new intake & exhaust manifold gaskets in less than 1 year ago.

:(
