Oh, Which muffler (190E 2.6, 1992)

The rear muffler just fell off my car. Guess I need a new muffler.

Now which one should I buy? fastlane offers Eberspaecher, Ansa and Bosal.

Is there a different in their size. Which brand is closest in size as original.

Thanks

I bought an Eberspaecher at Fastlane because it was the cheapest. Much to my amazement the quality was very good. The muffler fit perfectly, which is not usually the case for exhaust components. The metal on the pipes is a heavy guage thickness, not the crap you get at Car-X.

Did the same thing as JDUB for my 300E and am very happy with results.

Bosal Fit like a glove

Ordered the bosal and two hangers.

All went very well.

The old came off, with some encouragement from an abrasive saw, and teh new slipped right on.

Only required a few wiggles.

This bulletin board stuff is great.

Mr. Midas was willing to charge me $300 for a generic muffler - I made the better deal:)

Rubber muffler hanger

How does one maneuver on/off the rubber muffler hangers? I'm reluctant to attack mine in fear of brute forcing with a tool which will tear or injure the rubber. Substantial force is needed to remove and replace them. ??Special tool??

No Special tools

I figure when replacing the mufflers, the rubber hangers need replaced - hence I buy new.

My special tool is an old srew driver, slot preffered.

I pull the old off, and if they fight, I cut them. Hangers removed.

To puyt the new on, I don't worry much about streching them too far, as they are "new". With that said, I use the slotted screw driver to "pry" them back on. A philips head slips off too easily.

At about $1 each - I'm a spend thrift.

Thanks for the question. ;)
