300e w.washer fluid spray unit
my 88 300e windsheild washer fluid spray unit works poorly, it spray a splat of fluid on the windshield then dies out. the head light washers spray well enough but the windsheild, not. im thinking of swapping the hose from the headlight unit to the windshield pump and vice versa, the both appear the same, and are adjacent to one another on the bottle
has anyone done this? it would demonstrate if its the pump or a blockage in the lines. any advice? |

Yes, that would tell you if the washer pump is bad. Remember to turn on the headlights to make sure the pump runs. If you get the same result, try cleaning the washer nozzles with compressed air.

Hello Fred!
I once cleaned the nozzles out with a compressor and the small "balls" directing the waterjet, popped out. I never saw them back! So I clean them very regularly with a "special, stiff stainless steelwire". In fact it's a hair I "borrowed" of my poor steelwire brush, just pulled out with some plyers. To keep your steel brush in condition: keep it (the hair) in a small filmbox ( the brand of this is not important ) in your glovebox. BTW these little pumps costs only € 26. For a few cents more, replace the rubber washer under it to. You will be pleased every time you use the windshieldwashing installation ( and you will do so mutch more!). |
