We are going to spend 3-4 months elsewhere to beat the weather and only take one car with us. I will "store" my E320 during this time. I know about using a gas additive to stabilize it. What else should I do?

Is a car cover recommended? Will moisture collect uner it and cause problems?

Take some baking soda and put it in a pan in the floor. Then clean and dry the exterior and cover the car. Add some fuel stabilizer and fill the tank to the top.

Any potential problems with a diesel sitting for 4 weeks ? going away and will leave the car sitting at the airport.

1. Fuel stabilzers are a good bet, but this is something for long term storage only, like 6 months or so.

2. Start with super premium fuel,

3. Put fuel stabilzer in empty tank.

4. Fill up tank

5. You must drive the car for a few miles or so, in order for the treatment to fully make its way throught the entire fuel system, filters, injectors, etc... This critical part is overlooked or not known by many.

6. Here in the north, we at times put more than the man. recommends in the tank, so be aware of some plug fouling or rough running when you start it up 6 months later.

7. And a tip for long term storage at the airport, if it is there for weeks or months on end, have a friend come by and give the battery a slow charge, or do what I have done, and take the battery out, and have a friend come back with the battery, warm and fully charged.

If you can't put the car on blocks, you might also want to pump up your tires to the maximum allowed (printed on the sidewall). That will reduce (but not eliminate) flat-spotting. If you can find someone you trust, get them to start it up every few weeks and "exercise" the heater and air conditioner.

Well...don't want to impose on anyone during the 4-weeks it's parked. I will try the maximum tire pressure tip. Windshield will be shaded and back shelf and top of rear seat covered with a towel. I may even try the baking soda trick, which is a great idea.
Thanks for your help.
