If you are hearing a 'pinging' from the engine, it is the injectors knocking. It means one is injecting excess fuel into the prechamber. Simple fix is to run a bottle of Red Line Diesel Catalyst in the next tank of fuel. Run the tank as low as you can, then pour in the Red Line BEFORE you pump the fresh fuel in. This ought to cure the problem, but I would still consider replacing the nozzles next year. It's quite an easy job. They can be had for about $45/each from Bekkers Import. Hope this helps!

We sell it in the partsshop too!!! Click on the partsshop and look at the top of the page. Click on the icon and you can order some. It is regarded as one of the best diesel additives you can get.

Regarding the redline diesel additive:

I am having a similar issue, with lots of rattling/knocking/clattering while cold, especially during acceleration. I've used "Diesel Doctor" in the past (putting it directly in the fuel line, not in the tank), which REALLY makes the engine purr like a kitty... for a week or so. After two weeks it's the same as it was before.

Valve adjustment seemed to help a little bit, but as the weather is getting colder it seems to be getting worse. Since the additive helped so much, I'm guessing it's the injectors... any other thoughts?
