1973/450sl tranny question
Is there an inherent problem with the 1973 450sl auto transmission. I had mine rebuilt at a cost of $3000 and I feel the car is not transmiting properly from o-say 25 mph. Once she hits 25-30 and above she operates just fine. The mechanic says the noise I'm complaining about is the fan clutch. I have a problem with this can anyone give some advice. Thanks

Sometimes on that transmission there is a bellhousing problem. The torque converter mounts on a splined part of the bell housing. Many times this spline wears away & doesn't allow the converter to multiply the torque properly on acceleration.
