help identifying fluid leak
 

I got my 30,000 mile service on my 1995 C220 a few days ago, and now I have a mystery fluid leaking. The fluid appears to be water. It is clear and non-greasy. It is leaking from the very front part of the engine compartment, approximately in the middle front, but perhaps a bit closer to driver's side. It doesn't seem to leak during the day. After being parked overnight, I find a puddle in the morning, and then when I pull the car out of the garage, I get a trail of fluid/water. What kind of fluid could this be?

What does it taste of? Could be from the windscreen washer (soapy) or a coolant leak (very sweet taste)

I didn't taste it - what "flavors" could it be and what are the corresponding fluids.

It could simply be water that has accumulated in the A/C system and draining when the car changes position.
If it was coolant liquid, it would be very sweet to the smell.
If it was oil (either engine transmission, power steering or brake oil), it would be slippery between your fingers.

Did you see any water before the service? Do you use AC most of the time? How is your washer fluid level? How is your coolant level? I think after you have answer these questions, you will have a better idea of the fluid source.

If it were either of those oils, would it dry completely? The puddles all dried within an hour after moving the car (leaving no mark in the driveway, but leaving a slight mark in the garage), which makes me think it is simply water from the A/C, although we hadn't gotten these puddles before our 30,000 mile service.

If the liquid evaporates in such a short time, it's not oil but water.
Probably from the a/c.
two solutions:
1)You forget about it (that,s what I'd do)
2)Have the evacuation tubes checked for clogging.

Okay, thanks. I'm just concerned since it continues to drip long after the A/C has been running. Could clogged evacuation tubes cause this?
