Arrow Body Shop in NJ

Call Steve or Roger at Northern Valley Auto Body in Englewood NJ. They do a lot of MB body work for MB Dealers. Their phone # is 201-567-6846. Please tell them you were recommended by Gary Armando.

We had two cars repaired at Ferrari & Son(No, they don't do Ferraris!). We were very satisfied. The place is rather untidy but they do a thriving business. After he quoted you, you can haggle a bit. It is located in New Brunswick, Tel---732-247-2850, ask for Butch

Disappointed by Lee's Garage

I trusted my car to Lee's Garage to have my rust issues properly addressed. I was however disappointed and surprised by their service. Here is the sequence of main events:

* A mere month after their first intervention, the rust was back. I was assured that this was an isolated incident which would be addressed properly. I was however told that I would need to pay for another rental car since they were "not making any money on this repair", even though I had never questioned their asking price, and made clear that my purpose was to have my car taken care of properly, not to get a cheap fix.

* However, another mere month later, the rust is back again... So I cannot recommend that shop...

Lee's Garage

Ali,

When was the last time you used Lee's Garage? Maybe they've changed recently... Otherwise I do not understand the difference of treatment.

I indeed went to them because they had been recommended by the dealer (Contemporary) and by some of you guys in this forum. And that's why I was especially disappointed. And not only by the need to return, and still to no avail, but by the reaction to my initial complaint: "it's just an old car, what do you expect" kind of attitude... Just like the dealer, one is sometimes led to believe...

I used them about 3 years ago when I had an incident where I broke my driver's side door on a pole while backing up. They stayed after closing to help me and got the job done quickly and did a nice job. I didn't have anyone to pick me up right away and they even offered to drive me home to Freehold which is almost a half hour away. Sorry to hear about your experience with them, but they went well beyond the call of business to help me out. My dad has also used them previously with exceptional results.

Another thumbs down for lee's garage

About a year and a half ago, my cousin started to notice rust around the trunk lock of his 99 E320. He took it to the dealer (I believe david michael in freehold), and they determined that it was covered by the 100k mile corrosion warranty.

They reffered him to Lee's Garage for the repair. He dropped the car off, and when he got it back, the E320 chrome badging was on the wrong side of the trunk (right instead of left), and about an inch too low.

When he mentioned he wasn't happy with that because a) it was a telltale sign that the car was in an accident or has had paintwork, and b) it looks stupid.

They were like what's the big deal, bla bla bla, but finally agreed to take care of the problem, and told him to leave the car and come back and get it tomorrow.

When he went back tomorrow, the badging had been moved BUT looking at the car from certain angles revealed another problem. There was an impression or a shadow of the e320 emblem on the right side where the the badge had been mistakenly placed. Apparently they applied the badging while the clear was still a bit wet, and it left an impression. They said this was in his head, and that they already spent too much time on his car, and refused to do anymore. After some complaining at the dealer, who basically made it seem like he was lucky they honored the warranty in the first place, he ended up getting the trunk re clear coated at another shop in the Hamilton area, and all is well again.

Lee's Garage has a great reputation for some reason, and it MAY be the case that they do top notch work on certain cars (either people paying through the nose for custom work, or cars they are really into), but it seems like for smaller jobs, they rush it through, and don't really want to help.

If you're in the central Jersey area, there is a guy that I have personally seen great work. Auto body by Gary Betsy, small shop on rt 156 in yardville, but the guy is top notch. E-mail me if you want more info.

Take care,

George
