odor, perfume?
 

Anybody have any suggestions on removing/neutralizing the smell of perfume that has been spilled in a car? Since its perfume not dead cat, its not really a bad smell( kinda like baby powder ) but rather overpowering. Thanks for any help.

Tried more baking soda than I've ever seen in my life.... no luck. Thanks for the idea anyway>

Try a cigar lighter ionizer plug-in. I believe restoration hardware is selling them. It seems to get rid of a lot of smells. Only use it until the smell goes away.

Ionizer? what is it? What does it do? If its affordable, I may try it, Its a pleasant smell, but overpowering.

Hmmm .... it plugs into the lighter, it is about the size of a cell phone power corder adapter. An ionizer introduces negatively charged atoms into the air to clear it of pollutants such as dust, smoke, airborne bacteria, odors, and more. Best of all, it plugs into the lighter socket on most car dashboards.

A lot of air cleaning systems use ionizers. It is safe and it gives the car a *fresh*smell, clean really.

Thank you, I was aware of what they were, but didn't know if they really worked, or the whole ionizantion thing was more of a gimmick. Thanks for the input, it looks like i may just have to try one as the scent still lingers.......

I would try to vacuum as much of the perfume out as possible with a shop vacuum and some mild cleaning solution. I often say my shop vac is the best tool I have in my garage (not that I have that many). Use lots of water and suck it all out the the vac. Let it dry with the windows down. Then maybe try the ionizer for the residual.

If its cold where you live try leaving the car out side in below freezing weather with all windows down overnight.

Could always toss in a hunk of roadkill. That should just about cover the smell of the perfume.:eek: :eek: ;) :p :D
