1985 300D TRANS INFO

Is a 722.315 transmission interchangeble with the 722.4 OE equipped trans in my 85 turbo 300D (CA Model)? Gear ratios, shift pts,etc?
I have been told yes and no by various sources. Mercedes themselves were of no help, and here in Hawaii there aren't as many resources.
