See, that is what I hate the most. The constant denial of a known problem.

I would have more respect for them if they simply said:

"Yeah, we know about the problem, we are not going to fix it for you, f*ck you, and...BTW...we are all laughing at you for writing these stupid letters to complain about cracked dashboard."

With the former they insult my intelligence. With the latter, well, I can always tell them f**k you back!

And yes, the dashboards on my two W124 ar both in pristine condition.

The dashboard on the W210 has cracks all along the airbag cut out. Otherwise it has been a good car. (Knock on wood )

I'm surprised when I see a W210 without cracks on the dash!

I know one mechanic who bought a 2000 E320 for his wife, and sure enough the dash cracked! Even though it either sat in there garage or a parking garage, and was only outside when she drove it. He replaced it, and the new one cracked!

Angry Cracked dashboard

I have two W202, C180s and they are from 1994 and the other from 1997. The dashboards are both ok, but the wood trim panel on the centre of the dashboard in the 1994 version is going bad around the gear handle, the flat, horizontal piece due to the UV and infra red rays coming through the glass sunroof and drying up and cracking the very thin wood veneer. When I got this car 4 years ago, I chose it because the panel was perfect. However, I had to park outside all day and night because the 1997 version is in the garage. The cracks came out a bit at first , but are now raised and going in long wavy lines left to right following the woodgrains. Touch wood, the 1997 one has no glass or any sunroof at all to let the UV, infra red rays get direct burn-in. Even the sunroof's inside slider panel with it's vinyl cover and foam inserts have gone soft and floppy and the glue holding them in place has dried up and lost grip. The front windscreen's base wood trim strip is also starting to show small cracks. I do use window reflector sunguards front and back, but the heat gets through them anyway. Tell me your stories chaps, cheers John. Can someone supply me with replacements which are affordable or even plastic imitation wood ones like in the Jap cars and BMWs???

My 1997 E320 has the usual cracks as many have experienced. However, my 03 Wagon (W210) uses a different (better) material. It is very similar to what's in W124. I think this one will stay un-cracked for much longer.
