Dumb question about Euro headlights
Do I have to swap the US wipers to Euro wipers too? These would be for a 1990 420SEL.

I'm not sure about the 126 cars, but I expect the situation is very close to the same on the 124 cars.
On my 124 car, I simply fabricated a bracket to properly position the wiper motor at the hole in the trim piece below the headlight. The bracket was nothing but 1" strap drilled and bent. I bolted the bracket in the hole where the Euro wiper motor goes, then bolted the wiper motor in the other hole on the bracket. It was no big deal to make the bracket and fit everything together. The wiper only covers about 80% of the light area, but given the cost of the alternative Euro motors and wipers it's great. It looks good and gets the job done. What more should you ask for. Good luck, |
Cool
Larry,
Sounds like a winner to me. Appreciate the response. cheers, Todd |
For a 126, you do not have to convert the wipers too. In my opinion though, the euros look a helluva a lot better because they lay at the bottom edge of the headlight out of the way and don't stick up with 2 right angles like the US ones do. Every once in a while some wiper motors will come up on german ebay. You wouldn't believe the crap I've gotten from there!
