does one have to renew this each time one adjusts the engine valves???
my present gasket was renewed 30.000 km ago but leaks from the side right front (facing the windshield);

Yes, the gasket is cheap and will leak if not replaced. There was an update on some of the covers to file 2mm of metal off of the stop post and then tighten.
