Have a 87TD and I changed the tail light/directional light bulb w/ a non german bulb. Shortly thereafter, my cruise control stopped working. I looked in the service manual and see that there is an electrical connection between the stop light switch and the cruise amp. Is it possible that a light bulb could cause this? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Over the years, I have read *many* opinions about not only the interaction of brake lamps and the cruise control, but also about the apparent problems that result when non-German bulbs are used in the brake light assemblies. I realize this is post-event, however, for anyone replacing brake lamp bulbs in their M-B and reading this, I would certainly suggest using Osram or Bosch brand bulbs and rejecting all others in order to avoid the cruise control failure situation.
As for the cruise control itself, have you checked the archives? Much has been written on troubleshooting and repair of these. Goood luck- Terry |

Yes it will affect it. It uses the signal FROM the bulb to arm and disarm the unit.
